High praise for highways!
Mansfield District Council's Operational Services were named as finalists in four categories at the prestigious Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) Performance Network awards.

Members of the Operational Services team attended the awards ceremony in Blackpool, hosted by the actress and television presenter Denise Welch (best known for her roles as Natalie Barnes in Coronation Street, Steph Haydock in Waterloo Road and as a presenter on ITV1's Loose Women).
The District Council was named as a finalist in the following categories:
- Most improved performer for street lighting
- Best performer for street lighting
- Most improved performer for highways and winter maintenance
- Best performer for highways and winter maintenance
Mansfield District Council was the only local authority in the country to have been shortlisted in more than three categories.
Performance networks measure front-line public services using 10 years of performance data available.
With over 200 local authorities from across the UK; this is the largest voluntary measurement service for local government.
Mansfield District Council provides street lighting and highways services on behalf of Notts County Council.
Councillor Eddie Smith, Portfolio Holder for the Environment at Mansfield District Council, commented: "I am pleased that the Association of Public Service Excellence has recognised the work of the District Council's Operational Services team."
"Although it is disappointing not to have won any of these categories, the fact that Mansfield is the only local authority to have been shortlisted for four categories is a testament to the staff who work in this area and my thanks go to them."
