Remembrance Events in Mansfield
2008 marks 90 years since the signing of the Armistice, marking the end of the First World War. This page contains details of events in Mansfield to commemorate those who died in this and all subsequent conflicts.
REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY - SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER
Mansfield
10.00am Civic Centre Memorial for a short service and Wreath Laying followed by parade from the Civic Centre to St Peter's and Paul's Church for the
11.00am Service of Remembrance. Afterwards, parade returns to the Civic Centre taking the salute at the bottom of Regent Street on West Gate at 12.20pm.
Forest Town
Parade will form up at Forest Town Welfare car park for stepping off at 10.15am. A Wreath laying ceremony will take place at 11.00am at the St. Alban's Cenotaph followed by the service in the church.
Warsop
Parade will assemble at 10.00am at Carr Lane ex-Servicemen's Club and move off at 10.15am for the act of homage and service of Remembrance at 11.00am at the War Memorial.
Mansfield Woodhouse
Parade will assemble at the Co-op Car Park ready to move off at 10.30am for the Cenotaph where at 11.00am the act of homage and laying of Wreaths will take place. A service will follow in St Edmund's Church. After the service a further Wreath laying ceremony will take place at Pleasley Vale Memorial.
Bellamy Road
Bellamy Road Community Centre - a Wreath Laying ceremony and service will take place at 10.30am (assemble at 10.20am).
ARMISTICE DAY - TUESDAY 11 NOVEMBER 2008
Carr Bank Park
A service and Act of Remembrance will take place at Carr Bank Park at the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Memorial. Assemble 10.50 for the 11.0am Act of Homage.
Mansfield Cemetery (Nottingham Road entrance)
A Secular (non-religious) Remembrance Day service at the War Memorial, near to the Nottingham Road entrance of Mansfield Cemetery. Service starts at 10.45am and includes the reading of a roll call of names of the fallen. To submit names for the roll call, send details in writing to "A Different Remembrance", 24 Fonton Hall Drive, Sutton in Ashfield, NG17 1LD to arrive no later than Saturday 8th November 2008 with FULL contact details (in case of needing clarification).
