Christmas comes early for Reindeer Street resident!
There were early celebrations aplenty for one Mansfield District Council resident, who has become the 3000th tenant to benefit from the District Council's Decent Homes programme.
Mrs Cynthia Lock, of Reindeer Street was visited by Councillor Heather Henshaw, Portfolio Holder for Housing, who presented a gift of flowers on behalf of the District Council.
Mrs Lock has received a brand new kitchen as well as an upgrade of the electrics in the house.
The work has been carried out by Bullock Construction on behalf of Mansfield District Council, who presented Mrs Lock with £100 of High Street gift vouchers.
Work is currently being carried out in the Newgate Lane, Racecourse and Carter Lane areas of Mansfield under a Government scheme to provide all District Council tenants with a decent standard of kitchen, electrics and heating.
Mrs Lock is thrilled with her new kitchen, saying "It's a joy to work in now!"
"The kitchen really is the heart of the house, when the family come round, they all gather in it."
Councillor Henshaw commented: "The 3000th refurbishment in our Decent Homes programme is a significant milestone. Everyone, in Council or private housing deserves to live in a home with decent heating, electrics and reasonably modern facilities."
"We have received extremely positive feedback from tenants who have already had work carried out on their homes and I am proud that we have delivered to make the quality of life better for so many of our tenants."
