Join the big tidy up!
Mansfield District Council is urging local residents, businesses, schools and community groups to join a nationwide clean-up during September and help restore pride to their neighbourhood.
The Big Tidy Up is a national initiative being run by the Keep Britain Tidy Campaign.
So far, more than 5,700 groups throughout the country have signed up to carry out litter picks in their area via the website: www.thebigtidyup.org
Mansfield District Council will support any local group signing up to the campaign by providing equipment and removing the waste that is collected.
And the Council will also be getting involved by carrying out additional clean-ups in the district's 12 worst locations for litter, nominated by members of the public. We've teamed up with Mansfield 103.2 to urge listeners to nominate the "dirty dozen". The Council's street cleansing team will then tackle the areas during week commencing 22nd September.
Coun Eddie Smith, Portfolio Holder for the Environment at Mansfield District Council said: "What better way to show you take pride in your local area than by taking party in the big tidy up?
"The Council works extremely hard at keeping the area clean from litter, graffiti and fly tipping but any support we can get from the local community in helping us to keep our district spic and span is always very welcome.
"Many local organisations already carry out regular litter picks and/or carry out other work to improve their neighbourhood. We hope that the Big Tidy Up will provide the catalyst for many more to get involved in improving their local area."
Anyone signing up to the Big Tidy Up who needs support from Mansfield District Council should call Grimebusters on 01623 463463.
