Consideration is the key

Bullock Construction, contractors employed to carry out work under Mansfield District Council's Decent Homes scheme, have been given top marks in a top industry initiative.

The Considerate Constructors scheme is intended to improve the image of construction by ensuring that constructors are also good neighbours.

An example of work carried out under the Decent Homes programme.  Not every home receives a new kitchen but work is always carried out to his high standard.

Bullock Construction were assessed on the work carried out on 900 homes in Mansfield Woodhouse, part of the Decent Homes programme, which aims to ensure that tenants in council properties are warm, weatherproof and have reasonably modern facilities.

Bullock scored high marks in every category demonstrating a 'high level beyond compliance' in all categories of the assessment. The main three areas are:

The firm were also praised for visiting local schools and ensuring the children were aware of the hazards on building sites.

Further inspections will be carried out twice yearly to ensure the high standards identified are maintained.

Councillor Heather Henshaw, Portfolio Holder for Housing at Mansfield District Council, commented: "I am delighted for Bullock Construction on being assessed as Considerate Constructors."

"The feedback I have received from council tenants, who have benefited under the Decent Homes programme has been very positive and this assessment is a clear indication of the high standards employed by Bullock and my thanks go to them for work working so considerately in our tenants' homes."
