Oh, I do like to be beside the... market!
You may have thought the beach was 80 miles away but here's your chance to experience the sounds and excitement of the seaside - right here in Mansfield!
Between 9am and 4pm on Tuesday 19 August, Mansfield's Market Place will be transformed into Mansfield by the Sea!
As well as the monthly Farmers' Market, there will also be a whole host of seaside attractions, including:
- Punch and Judy shows
- Donkey rides
- Chalk drawings on the street
- Craft workshop
- Fairground rides
The event will also feature competitions galore with something for all ages: for dads and granddads, there is the knobbly knees competition; grandmas will be competing for the honour of being crowned Mansfield's most glamorous granny and we haven't forgotten the children, who can take part in the design a postcard competition.
The Mansfield 103.2 roadshow will also be keeping shoppers – or should that be campers – entertained during the day.
Councillor Kate Allsop, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration at Mansfield District Council, is enthusiastic about the event: "I'm sure everyone has happy memories of seaside holidays and this event is a great opportunity to re-create those memories without the inconvenience of travelling miles to the coast and follows on from the success of Mansfield by the Sea, which many residents and visitors enjoyed last year."
