i-2 means business for Mansfield
The highly anticipated i2 office and workspace development at Mansfield's Oakham Business Park was launched last week and has already secured its first new tenant to the scheme.
i2 is the latest high quality business space development to enter the Mansfield market place and was launched by Mansfield District Council's Executive Mayor Tony Egginton. The scheme was developed by Network Space Ltd, a joint venture between Langtree and English Partnerships.
The new occupier, a Mansfield company, has taken a 1,688 sq ft workspace unit at the site to accommodate its continuing growth.
Helen Bazzant, senior property manager for Network Space, said: "This stunning, office development is generating a lot of interest and leading the way in Mansfield – it's raising the bar and providing top quality offices from 1,585 to 5,000 sq ft and high technology workspace units from 1,668 to 3,089 sq ft for occupiers in Mansfield. To have made a deal so close to completion clearly demonstrates the scheme's broad appeal and the interest the development has created."
The development is supported by £1,058,000 million from the European Regional Development Fund and has received from the British Research Establishment a (BREEAM) sustainability rating of 'Very Good' for the 34,500 sq ft office building and an 'Excellent' rating for its 16,000 sq ft of high technology workspace units.
Phil Quiggin, from Lambert Smith Hampton's Nottingham office is the instructed agent on the scheme, added: "We have already received a high volume of enquiries from occupiers of the i-centre and small to medium size companies which have expressed interest in locating to the site. The offer of secure, high quality office space and workspace units is attracting a lot of attention."
At the launch Network Space received a certificate from Nottinghamshire Police Force confirming that i2 has been awarded 'Secured by Design' status. Jason Todhunter from Advanced Security Partners (ASP) said: "We have collaborated with the UK Police's Secured by Design initiative to make i2 more crime-resistant and secure through intelligent design. We were involved as early as the architectural design stages in order to consult on everything from structural changes to high-tech security systems."
i2 is the 21st completed scheme from Network Space, which has already delivered more than 700,000 sq ft of business space within the former English coalfield areas. Network Space has announced a further phase of development to deliver another 300,000 sq ft of high quality business space within Network Villages, providing attractive accommodation for SMEs increasing the availability of wider and better local employment opportunities. This will be developed alongside exemplar sustainable housing and all carefully integrated to existing communities.
i2 follows in the footsteps of the Mansfield I-centre which is based next door to the new development. Since opening in September 2001, the I-Centre has created over 180 new jobs and has enjoyed occupancy rates of more than 85% since 2003.
