A helping hand around the home
Do you need a helping hand to get upstairs? Is your front step too high?
Mansfield District Council can now adapt your home for free – making it easier and safer for you to get around at no cost to you.
The aim of this scheme is to help prevent falls in the home by giving people extra confidence to move around the house by installing grab rails, stair rails and half steps.
Free adaptations are available to anyone over the age of 65, living in their own or privately rented home, within the Mansfield district.
Mansfield District Council Portfolio Holder for Housing Councillor Heather Henshaw said: "Sometimes it's the little things in life that make the biggest difference. If we can help someone stay safe in their home, by fitting a hand rail or a step for free, then that can only be a good thing. "

This is a partnership project between Mansfield District Council, Nottinghamshire County Council and Ashfield District Council.
Council tenants can request adaptations from Mansfield District Council Repairs Bureau.
